Three things you should embrace as a new mother

New beginnings!

So exciting………. I remember being a new mother. If I could go back and talk to me. What would I say? There are so many things spinning around in your mind. Let’s quieten that and get a little focus. What three habits will help the big picture?

Get this bit right and everything else seems easier to manage.

Good books

When you have a moment to sit down, always have a book around. Whether you want junk reading, non-fiction reading or a good story. Books take you from where you are and take you somewhere else. No matter where you are in the world a good book changes you.

Hear good things

Our new mother minds are never quiet. We’re full of concerns, worry and joy.

All within a thought.

Music has a way of changing our mood quickly. We can’t always get out to our friends for a chat but we can find comfort hearing podcasts on the things that light you up. Bite sized audio that you start and stop.

I loved listening in the middle of the night. No extra light to keep me awake during nursing and changing. New things to think and smile on. The humor returns hearing other peoples stories.

Time with your partner

Little dude wouldn’t be here without them.

As you both transition into new roles, become new people, wear a new badge, don’t shut each other out.

Grow together, laugh together and keep on hugging. There is more than enough love for all of you.

  3. Great advice here. I reckon I’ve read maybe 3 or 4 books since my daughter was born nearly 2 years ago and I’ve loved it! Now I’m reading parenting books! haha!

  4. Such good advice! Even now 6 years in, I struggle to make time for a book and have to schedule in time with my partner to keep us connected :) A front room disco is always a happiness-boosting fun event for me AND the kids, we have lots of those!
