When I was a lass, I remembered finding odd shaped fruit and veg all the time. I found mostly carrots. With supermarkets  and regulation this fun game of find the funny fruit, at the market all but disappeared.

Imagine my luck then when my MO opened a bag of potatoes trying to get out the 5 I’d asked for and pulled out this one. He counted 5 and arrived with 4 because he didn’t see the heart. Once put on the table he was so excited to see the heart he took off with it to find his brother.

When I turned around all I saw was 4 potatoes and figured he’d miscounted. I got another potato and carried on with dinner.

A few moments later, both boys came rushing around the corner and presented me with the heart potato and asked what it was…  The MO was convinced it was a potato but the BG knew that potatoes don’t come like that even though it looked like one.

I got to tell my childhood stories of finding tomatoes, odd shaped aubergines and double strawberries.

We decided not to eat this potato. It gets shown to everyone that comes to the door.

I think we’re in another change….the BG ate a double strawberry the other week. Even with regulation more mishapen fruit and veg is getting through. If we grew more of our own ( or if more grew despite our lack of a green fingers/ thumb) I’m sure we’d see more mishapen fruit.

What was the last mishaped fruit or veg you found?

Just for fun…………
