Fantastic and easy idea! I love the fact that you are encouraging parents to think beyond the cut-and-paste projects (cutting out pre-drawn images and coloring sheets). I especially love the fact that it is a CUTTING project! I can't tell you how many times I've heard-no, my child's not played with scissors, they are dangerous! Using scissors builds great fine motor skills that children are going to need when they begin writing. Blunt-tip scissors are pretty harmless, but unfortunatly can still cut hair!
