Almost a year ago we moved in and the kids claimed some of the packing boxes.

We built a house together.

Still in heavy use and showing need of major repairs and checking Angies list for roofing specialists; the big guy decided to add some decorative features.

The little upkeep we did together was more tape, minor redesign and remodelling, adding a kiddy mural. It was a good opportunity to talk about upkeep and repair and relating it to real life.

Who would have thought that a group of boxes would last a full year and be one of the favourite playdate toys and rainy day toy?

Never underestimate cardboard boxes.

Maybe in another year you can come over for apple pie…..

Cardboard boxes are always a favorite around here. My kids still play with a robot that they made over a year ago from boxes, plastic tubing and caster wheels. Fancy, flashy toys are definitely something that is not a necessity. There is so much that can be learned and experienced from things that are just around the house.

The “house” is too cute. We have a big box in the family room that our son loves to play in. My mother always says nevermind the toys, kids have the most fun with household items. From the looks of it she is correct!
